Clothes for Ameana who had to leave everything behind when she moved out

Posted Mar 21, 2025
Ameana is requesting a gift card to purchase clothes. She currently has only two outfits due to a mouse infestation in her Independent Living Program. Ameana is 13 weeks pregnant, and because of the infestation and the droppings, along with fumes from cleaning supplies, she chose to move out temporarily while extermination efforts were underway. However, after receiving no proof of extermination and being told by the director that she needed to decide whether to return or her room would be given away, she decided to stay with her boyfriend's mother. This decision was made to ensure her safety and that of her unborn child. She urgently needs new clothes, as everything she owned was ruined by the mice, and anything that remained was said to be thrown out.

Ameana is 18 years old and lives in NJ

Ameana is a remarkable young adult. She has always been determined to create a better life for herself by pursuing a college education and working a part-time job. For the past four years, she's been in foster care and hasn’t always had the easiest circumstances. After losing her father, who was her guardian, Ameana entered the foster care system. She was more recently accepted into an independent living program, which she was very excited about, as she had been living in resource homes since entering care. Ameana is committed to going to college and often takes multiple buses each day for transportation. Despite the challenges she faces, nothing has deterred her from focusing on her goals.
